O&R Calls In the Cavalry to Help Heal Suffering Local Veterans
Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. (O&R) has donated $1,400 to the Amity Foundation for Healing with Horses to help support the foundation’s program to provide equine-assisted therapy to U.S. military veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
The Amity Foundation for Healing with Horses is a 501c3 non-profit corporation that harnesses the healing and therapeutic power of horses to help those who have experienced the psychological, emotional and relational effects of trauma.
This form of therapy is recognized as highly successful in helping soldiers begin to recover from the psychological trauma of combat.
“Our program could not survive without the help of our community,” said Gloria Smith, the foundation’s president. “We are especially appreciative of Orange and Rockland for so generously recognizing the therapy we provide and for helping to assure its continuance.”
