
New York State Electric and Gas Bill Relief Program
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New York State Public Service Commission has approved a one-time bill credit for residential and small business customers with a past-due balance from bills for service through May 1, 2022.
Residential customers are eligible to receive up to $2,500 for past-due balance from bills for service through May 1, 2022.
Small business customers are eligible to receive up to $750 if their energy use did not exceed a combined average monthly demand of 20 kw during the previous 12 months or; They did not register any single demand in excess of 40 kw, and used less than or equal to 750 dekatherms per year of gas.
If eligible, you will receive the credit automatically on your next bill.
All customers are responsible for any costs the bill credit did not cover and for bills for service after May 1, 2022. In addition, residential customers will not have their service suspended for non-payment until March 1, 2023, or 30 days after credit is applied, whichever is later.
Only customers who did not receive a bill-relief credit in 2022 are eligible for a bill-relief credit in 2023.
