Orange and Rockland Celebrates Energy Efficiency Day 2023

Every day is Energy Efficiency Day at Orange and Rockland Utilities (O&R). And, in recognition of national Energy Efficiency (EE) Day today, October 4, O&R is re-doubling its efforts to promote energy efficiency – the cheapest and quickest way to meet our clean energy needs, cut utility bills, and reduce pollution.

“O&R is proud to offer a variety of energy efficiency programs to help customers better control their energy usage while lowering their carbon footprint and energy bills,” said Charmaine Cigliano, O&R’s Director of Customer Energy Services. “We believe that energy efficiency is for everyone, and this initiative aims to bring a cleaner energy future to families and businesses in our community.”

Eligible customers in New York and New Jersey can receive instant rebates when they purchase energy-saving products on the My ORU Store, O&R’s online marketplace. The My ORU Store makes saving energy and money, simple, safe, and easy, with fast and free shipping on many orders. Customers also have easy access to home weatherization contractors, solar providers, and heat pump and geothermal installers through this one stop shop.

In honor of EE Day, O&R if offering enhanced rebates from some of the most popular brands of thermostats, including Google Nest, Honeywell, ecobee, and Emerson. With a smart thermostat, you can take control of your heating and cooling costs like never before, helping you save energy and money.

Since 2009, over 439,000 O&R customers reduced CO2 emissions by 1.1 million tons through energy efficiency program participation. That is equivalent to removing 247,000 cars from the road. O&R energy efficiency programs also have contributed to the savings of:

  • 2,034, 000 MWh – enough to power 245,000 homes
  • 71 MW peak demand – enough to power 12 Palisades Malls
  • 1,551,000 Dth - enough to heat 13,600 homes

These achievements demonstrate O&R’s commitment and leadership role in the delivery of a clean energy future for our customers.
