O&R Invests $15,000 in School Year Success; Since 2001, Firm Has Given Over $100,000 to This Effort

O&R has donated $15,000 to help support People to People’s Back to School with Dignity effort, a program that since 1994 has sent thousands of Rockland County’s children in need back to school each year ready to succeed.

O&R has contributed over $100,000 to this program since 2001.

The program distributed about 1,500 backpacks full of school supplies this year. Distribution was made today through an innovative curbside pick-up operation staffed by a team of volunteers to minimize any potential crowd-related COVID-19 health impacts.

O&R’s Director of Regional and Community Affairs Neil Winter, the president of the People to People Board of Directors, said, “Giving students the tools they need helps them feel prepared, confident and ready to do their best.”

Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. (O&R), a wholly owned subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc., one of the nation’s largest investor-owned energy companies, is a regulated utility. O&R provides electric service to approximately 300,000 customers in southeastern New York State (where its franchise name is Orange & Rockland) and northern New Jersey (where it’s Rockland Electric Company) and natural gas service to approximately 130,000 customers in New York.
