Having Trouble Paying Your Utility Bill in NJ? Find Help Here

Rockland Electric Company, and its utility company neighbors in New Jersey, are getting together the week of April 17 - 21 to help get the word out about the wide array of programs that are available to provide financial assistance to low- income families who are having difficulty paying their utility bills.

To further help raise awareness about these valuable resources, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) is designating April 17-21 as Utility Assistance Week.

NJBPU President Joseph L. Fiordaliso said, “NJBPU along with our state partners and the utilities will be amplifying our existing collective outreach efforts to help spread the word about available assistance programs.”

Fiordaliso added that if customers are behind on their bills they should not wait to reach out for help.

Among those programs are:

If you are a New Jersey resident who received a Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) heating grant after October 1, 2022 and owe your electric company $300 or more, please call 800-510-3102 to request a “LIHEAP Emergency Grant”.

Up to $400 can be provided for non-heating electric costs and up to $1,000 can be provided for electric heating costs through the New Jersey LIHEAP program. If you have not applied for LIHEAP, please call the agencies below or apply online now at: www.nj.gov/dca/dcaid. The LIHEAP application deadline is June 30, 2023.
