About

Smart Savers helps reduce strain on the electric grid by allowing us to use a small portion of your battery’s stored energy during hot summer periods of high electricity demand. Eligible residential customers in New York can earn $50 for every average kW Orange & Rockland uses from your battery when you enroll in Smart Savers.

These adjustments may occur up to 15 times between May 1 and September 30 and last no more than four hours on weekdays from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be an Orange & Rockland residential customer.
  • Own an eligible home battery with a minimum capacity of 5 kWh.
  • Be willing to allow Orange & Rockland to use a portion of your home’s stored energy during peak demand.
