Penguin Rep Theatre's 2022 Gala Honors O&R with 1st Business Award

Actor Edie Falco, Stage Production Manager Michael Palmer Also Saluted

Stony Point’s Penguin Rep Theatre presented Orange & Rockland (O&R) with the first annual Morton Wolkowitz Business Award at the organization’s Penguin 2022 Benefit Gala at the theatre on September 10.

Also, honored at the Gala were actor Edie Falco, best known for her role as mobster Tony Soprano‘s long-suffering wife Carmela on the popular HBO television drama, The Sopranos, and Michael Palmer, a well-known New York theater production stage manager, who has overseen 20 productions at Penguin in Stony Point and in New York City, in addition to stage managing dozens of productions Off Broadway and at the Irish Rep.

O&R was recognized for its generous support for Penguin over the years, and for the company’s partnerships with numerous nonprofit organizations in its New York and New Jersey service area to strengthen neighborhoods and power the arts.

Morton Wolkowitz, for whom the business award is named, was a businessman, commercial producer and art lover who was a devoted advocate for Penguin for the past 20 years. He died this year and Penguin wished to keep the memory of his guidance, friendship and support alive by creating this award.

The Penguin Rep is a not-for-profit, professional theatre that has entertained audiences from Rockland, and beyond, with world-class performances at its Stony Point home since 1977. Penguin Rep Theatre is funded, in part, by a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts. But Penguin Rep counts on tax-deductible contributions and grants from audience members, subscribers, governments, and community agencies.
