A Celebration of the Arts - 2022 Arts Al Fresco Has Something for Everyone

Nuevo Tango opens BridgeMusik 5th Annual Summer Festival Sunday in Sparkill

BridgeMusik, a group of top-tier musicians, including several Rockland County residents, who perform regularly in New York City venues and around the world, launches its Fifth Annual Summer Festival 2022 by presenting a live outdoor concert "Tango Nuevo of Astor Piazzolla and more with BridgeMusik and the Pedro Giraudo Trio," Sunday, June 26, 4 p.m. (rain or shine) at the Christ Church, 5 New Street in Sparkill.

BridgeMusik’s summer festival season debut is part of Con Edison’s Arts Al Fresco, an extraordinary series of outdoor arts experiences, held across the five boroughs, and Westchester, Rockland, Orange and Sullivan counties. Orange & Rockland (O&R), a Con Edison subsidiary, joins in offering major support to the summer-long arts celebration series in O&R’s suburban service area.

Last year, Arts Al Fresco’s premier season entertained and delighted tens of thousands of New Yorkers, and this year’s events are bigger and better than ever.

Astor Piazzolla is a legendary Argentinian tango performer and composer, one of the most important creators of new musical expression known as Tango Nuevo. This concert will feature encores of some of the beloved tangos which audiences have come to adore through BridgeMusik’s performances with Pedro Giraudo  and his Latin Grammy-winning ensemble.

Bring a blanket/lawn chair; no pets allowed. In case of rain, the concert will be inside the church. This event is made possible by the support of the Christ Church. Admission is free but we request you register at Eventbrite as space is limited. Visit us for more info about all BridgeMusik Summer Festival 2022 live events: www.bridgemusik.com.

"With the diverse neighborhoods, communities and parks of New York as its stage, Con Edison's Arts Al Fresco series is pleased to support an eclectic array of arts and cultural experiences for all to enjoy,” said Frances A. Resheske, Con Edison's senior vice president, Corporate Affairs.

“Con Edison is a long-standing supporter of the arts and Arts Al Fresco is another way we can help share and broaden appreciation for the arts again this summer.”

BridgeMusik Summer Festival 2022 continues on Sunday, July 3 at 4 p.m. with a Young Artist Concert at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 112 N. Main St. in Pearl River. On Sunday July 10, Summer Festival 2022 will feature a Faculty and Young Artist Concert with jazz singer Shirley Crabbe at the Orangetown Historical Museum & Archives, 196 Chief Bill Harris Way in Orangeburg.

And on each Thursday night at 7 p.m. this summer from July through August, the garden behind the 1882 American Queen Anne Style house becomes home to another very American art form --- jazz.

Here’s the 2022 line up for Hopper House’s Jazz Music in the Garden Concert Series.

The Phoenix Festival

In early autumn, Nyack will host the Phoenix Festival, a celebration of the performing arts — live theater, concerts and more — all performed outdoors against a backdrop of Hudson River vistas. This year's inaugural program will kick off on Sept. 16 and run for five weekends through Oct. 16. Programs will include live performances by the Phoenix Theatre Ensemble and Children's Shakespeare Theatre company, as well as Rockland Symphony Orchestra concerts and a series of related special events. All live performances will be presented in the afternoon to allow patrons to enjoy the riverside, plus Nyack's great shopping, dining, recreation and night life. Outdoor settings include pastoral Marydell at the foot of Hook Mountain and the garden at the Edward Hopper House Museum & Study Center in the heart of Nyack.
