Expect Traffic Delays in Highland Falls Saturday

Emergency Transformer Replacement on Mountain Rd

O&R is advising motorists in the vicinity of Mountain Road in Highland Falls on Saturday morning (July 25) to expect traffic delays as O&R performs an emergency transformer replacement in its Highland Falls electric substation.

Unloading the new transformer is expected to begin about 10 a.m., take about 45 minutes and require at least one lane of Mountain Road to be closed for a time during that period.

Because of the substation’s configuration, the transformer must be off-loaded from its tractor trailer on the road outside the station and carried into the station by forklift. Once the transformer clears the substation fence line, regular traffic can resume

All local permits are in place and municipal and law enforcement notifications have been made. Appropriate traffic control measure will be in place.

The move will be made weather permitting.

O&R personnel follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines and practice social distancing with each other and members of the public when responding to emergency calls. O&R asks that members of the public remain a safe social distance from O&R crews, work sites and trucks. If you must speak to the crews, please maintain a social distance of at least six feet so that everyone’s health is protected.
