Eligible customers can claim an $85 rebate when they enroll their smart thermostat in Smart Savers. Smart Savers helps reduce strain on the electric grid during hot summer days by allowing O&R to temporarily adjust your smart thermostat by no more than four degrees during periods of high electricity demand. These adjustments may occur up to ten times between May 1 and September 30 and typically last no more than four hours on weekdays between 11 a.m. and 11 p.m.To be eligible for Smart Savers, customers must:
- Be an Orange & Rockland or Rockland Electric residential customer (small businesses and religious institutions are also eligible).
- Have a thermostat linked to a central air conditioning system and a Wi-Fi connection.
- Own an eligible smart thermostat. Customers who do not have an eligible smart thermostat can purchase one through the My ORU Store.
- Be willing to allow us to make brief, limited adjustments to your smart thermostat during periods of high energy demand.

Step 1: Check Eligibility
Orange & Rockland or Rockland Electric residential customers who already have an eligible smart thermostat can enroll it for the rebate. If you don’t have an eligible Wi-Fi thermostat yet, you can purchase one from My ORU Store and enroll at checkout. Need a thermostat?
Step 2: Enroll Your Thermostat
Go to the enrollment page and complete your application. You'll receive an email confirmation once your eligibility is confirmed.
Step 3: Receive Reward
You will receive your $85 reward by email as a prepaid Visa card six to eight weeks after enrollment acceptance.
