Janette Espino Named New O&R Customer Service V.P.

Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. has named Janette Espino, a 32-year Con Edison veteran, to the post of Vice President – Customer Service.

In her new position, Espino will lead O&R’s Customer Service, Meter Operations, New Business, Energy Services, Customer Service Business Systems and Support departments.

O&R President and Chief Executive Officer Robert Sanchez said, “Janette is the model of the modern utility industry leader. She’s a first-class thinker and planner and a results-oriented leader. She excels at managing large projects, building winning teams and effectively addressing the challenges of on-time project completion and on-target project budgets.”

He added, “Janette’s breadth of knowledge about our business is almost as impressive as her ability to develop creative solutions to resolve even the most difficult business questions. She is a superb executive.”

Espino succeeds Christina Ho, who was named Vice President – Steam Operations at Con Edison. Both O&R and Con Edison are wholly owned subsidiaries of Consolidated Edison, Inc.

Espino joined Con Edison in 1988 as a computer programmer in mainframe application development. She worked her way up through that organization, assuming positions of increasing management responsibility and authority. She has led major project teams in Application Services, Human Resources and Supply Chain. Espino also has assumed leadership positions as Director of Supply Chain and General Manager of Customer Operations.

Her most recent leadership position before joining O&R was as Project Director of Customer Energy Solutions New Customer Service System (CSS) project implementation. That project’s mission is to standardize and consolidate the CSS legacy systems across Con Edison and O&R.

Espino holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from Manhattan College and a Master of Science degree in computer science from Pace University. She has completed a number of advanced leadership training courses, including Con Edison’s rigorous Business Academy program and Con Edison’s Comprehensive Project Management Program.

Espino enjoys participating in Con Edison’s corporate mentoring program and volunteering in the company’s Habitat for Humanity program. She’s also volunteered as a religious educator at her community church
