Gas Rebates

Is your home heating or water equipment old and inefficient? Replace them and get a rebate.

Get Qualifying Natural Gas Equipment

You can get a rebate from O&R for a new high-efficiency natural gas system. Most importantly, you'll save significant energy and lower your bill.

The new equipment must be a natural gas system and installed on a New York residential O&R gas account.

See our list of qualifying equipment below, then have your contractor perform the installation according to our eligibility requirements. After installation, submit an application to get your rebate.

Gas Water Heaters

When selecting a water heater, consider the different types and sizes available to provide enough hot water for your home efficiently to save you money.

Stand Alone Water Heater (Storage)

As the most common type of water heating system, stand alone or storage water heaters offer a ready reservoir of hot water. They operate by releasing hot water from the top of the tank when you turn on the hot water tap. To replace that hot water, cold water enters the bottom of the tank, ensuring that the tank is always full. The water is constantly heated in this type of water heater.

Eligibility Requirements

Rebate Amount

ENERGY STAR® -rated
Tank volume ≥ 40 gallons
Energy Factor ≥ 0.8 if tank volume > 55 gallons, otherwise Energy Factor ≥ 0.68

$75

Tankless Water Heater

Tankless water heaters provide hot water only as it is needed, heating water directly without the use of a storage tank. When a hot water tap is turned on, cold water travels through a pipe into the unit, and a heating element heats the water. As a result, tankless water heaters deliver a constant supply of hot water without the need to wait for a storage tank to fill up with enough hot water. However, there is a limit to the amount of hot water they can deliver at one time.
