O&R Encourages ‘Climate Week’ Action All Year ‘Round
Orange & Rockland (O&R) supports the goals of Climate Week (today through Sept. 29) and — as the company does this and every other week — promotes and encourages programs to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to increase investments that can result in a clean energy future.
More than 745,000 people count on O&R to deliver safe, reliable energy --- nearly 25 percent of which is generated from renewable energy resources.
That’s why O&R has taken a leading role in the transition to a clean energy economy by investing in renewables and energy-efficiency programs.

- Installing more than 400,000 smart meters so that its customers can make near-real-time transparent decisions about their own energy usage.
- Combating the effects of climate change by investing $60 million over the past five years to fortify its energy-delivery systems against more frequent, powerful storms and higher temperatures. • Supporting the development of over 7,500 solar project since 2001.
