O&R Donates $15,000 to Help Support Veterans' Hudson Valley Honor Flight

Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. (O&R) has donated $15,000 to help support the Hudson Valley Honor Flight (HVHF), a non-profit organization that arranges free trips to Washington D.C. for U.S. military veterans.

Eighty-three Hudson Valley region veterans flew to Washington D.C. Saturday (April 13) on Hudson Valley Honor Flight’s Mission 22.

And O&R employees and their families cheered them on as the vets boarded the post-dawn flight at New York Stewart International Airport in Newburgh.

Fourteen World War II veterans, including 108-year-old New Windsor barber Anthony Mancinelli, post-World War II veterans and Korean War and Desert Storm era veterans were honored with a one-day visit to war memorials and military monuments at the nation’s capital. Those memorials reflect a grateful nation’s recognition, pride and appreciation for the veterans’ service, courage and sacrifice. All veterans go on this trip at no cost to them.

HVHF, headquartered in Walden, N.Y., has flown over 1,000 veterans to the nation’s capital since the mission began in 2012.  For more information about this program, please visit HVHF at
