Rockland Electric Company Donates $10,000 to Bergen Volunteer Center
Rockland Electric Company has donated $10,000 to the Bergen Volunteer Center to help underwrite a number of community development programs, including the center’s administration of the Bergen LEADS program.
The Bergen Volunteer Center is a non-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen the community by connecting people through service and developing civic leaders.
One way it develops civic leaders is through Bergen LEADS, a 10-month-long community leadership development and learning program. The program features a challenging curriculum designed to teach, develop and enhance leadership skills and thinking of participating adults who live or work in Bergen County and to foster the personal and professional growth of each participant.
Rockland Electric’s grant also goes to help support:
- Tools for School: An initiative to provide school supplies for children in foster care or in Bergen Volunteer Center’s mentoring youth program.
- Fifth Friday: A powerful networking and learning event that draws leaders from every sector of the community to hear a high profile speaker and discuss the speaker’s topic and business with their peers.
- Teen LEADS: Bergen Volunteer Center is developing a Teen LEADS program at a high school in the county in the fall of 2019. The Teen LEADS program also will feature a strong STEM component in its curriculum.
