O&R, Local 503 Agree to Extend Contract as Talks Continue

Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 503 have agreed to an extension of the collective bargaining agreement that was scheduled to expire Friday evening, May 31 at 11:59 p.m.

The contract is extended 24 hours to Saturday evening, June 1 at 11:59 p.m.

After two months of negotiations, a number of key issues remain to be resolved. The parties will continue negotiations with the goal of reaching a mutually acceptable agreement. The current contract has been in effect since June 1, 2014.

Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. (O&R), a wholly owned subsidiary of Consolidated Edison, Inc., one of the nation’s largest investor-owned energy companies, is a regulated utility. O&R provides electric service to approximately 300,000 customers in southeastern New York State (where its franchise name is Orange & Rockland) and northern New Jersey (where it’s Rockland Electric Company), and natural gas service to approximately 130,000 customers in New York.
