O&R Sends a Fresh Shipment of Dry Ice to Mamakating
While O&R crews work to restore power to Sullivan County customers, the company has distributed more dry ice today.
O&R plans to distribute bags of dry ice between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. today at the Town of Deer Park Town Hall, 420 Route 209 in Huguenot.
Approximately 5,000 Sullivan County O&R customers remain without power since the Tuesday thunderstorms that pummeled the area, uprooting trees, toppling utility poles and knocking down power lines.
The vast majority of customers in Sullivan County should expect power to be restored by Sunday afternoon. O&R’s electrical system there was severely damaged and requires massive cleanup and reconstruction. Crews are working methodically there by first clearing and opening roads, addressing downed wires and then making repairs to transmission and distribution circuits.
O&R already has distributed 38,000 pounds of dry ice this week among the following locations:
2539 State Route 42
Forestburgh, NY 12777
Mamakating Town Hall
2948 Route 209
Wurtsboro, NY 12790
Fort Montgomery Municipal Parking Lot
130 Firefighters Memorial Drive
Fort Montgomery, NY 10922
Lumberland Town Hall
1054 Proctor Road
Glen Spey, NY 12737
For customers picking up dry ice, instructions for safe handling and disposal are printed on the paper bag containing the ice. Dry ice is frozen carbon dioxide and should be used only in well-ventilated areas. Keep children and pets safely away.
