O&R Crews Head to Rochester to Help Restore Power; Service Knocked Out to Tens of Thousands in Destructive Windstorm

Fourteen O&R overhead electric technicians, along with supervision, are headed to the Rochester, N.Y. area this morning to help restore power to 112,000 Avangrid (NYSEG and Rochester Gas & Electric) customers whose electricity was knocked out yesterday by a destructive windstorm that battered the upstate New York, Great Lakes and the upper Midwest regions.

The O&R technicians are joining nearly 75 more Con Edison personnel and company contractors who are part of a Consolidated Edison, Inc. (CEI) effort to render mutual assistance to Avangrid.

Officials estimate approximately 400,000 customer were affected by the storm in upstate New York and the Midwest.
