O&R Donates $20,000 to Keep Rockland Beautiful Environmental Program
Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. (O&R) has donated $20,000 to Keep Rockland Beautiful (KRB), the organization whose mission is to build a cleaner, healthier and more environmentally sound Rockland County, to support the development of KRB’s new outreach program, Partners in Environmental Education.
This program runs the gamut from elementary and high school programs in basic applied green science and smart growth land use planning to community outreach, cleanup and sustainability support.
O&R was one of KRB’s founding companies 18 years ago, and O&R employees continue to play an active role in the organization.
O&R and KRB’s mutual interests in community aesthetics, sustainability and environmental stewardship form the foundation for this close relationship.
O&R President and CEO Tim Cawley said, “Another reason O&R has worked so closely with KRB over the years is we share a focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics — the STEM disciplines. In fact, STEM is the bedrock on which both O&R and KRB were built.”
KRB’s new Partners in Education program is the latest in a long line of STEM community and educational initiatives on which O&R has partnered with KRB. Other initiatives include the annual Great American Clean Up, the Rockland Planning and Land Use Symposium and the Energy Bike Display.
