That’s  why after Tom, O&R’s Public Affairs Director, had delivered the fruits of  his garden to everyone he knows, he took his lunch hour yesterday to lug 126  pounds of zucchini over to People to People’s West Nyack offices where he  donated food to friends he’s yet to meet. Added to the zucchini he already has  donated this season, Tom’s total contribution so far this year is just over 200  pounds.   Tom’s  efforts were part of the Plant a Row for the Hungry (PAR), an initiative  originally organized in Rockland by Cornell Cooperative Extension and later  adopted by People to People.“Plant  a Row for the Hungry is a great way to provide struggling families with  more fresh fruits and vegetables,” said Diane Serratore, People to People  Executive Director. The  People to People Food Pantry feeds nearly 4,000 people per month and is the  largest food pantry in Rockland. The Food Pantry is open Monday through  Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and  Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. donations of fresh produce as well as  non-perishable food items can be dropped off at People to People during those  hours.  For  more information on how to help People to People, contact Diane Serratore at diane@peopletopeopleinc.org or  845-623-4913
