O&R Crews On The Job to Help L.I. Restore Power
Sixteen O&R overhead electric linemen, along with supervision, are on the job this morning on the north shore of Long Island as part of a Consolidated Edison, Inc. (CEI) effort to help restore power to thousands of customers of its neighbor, the Long Island Power Authority (LIPA) and its electric system operating company PSEG-LI.
LIPA/PSEG-LI was struck yesterday by a number of unusually destructive thunderstorms that knocked out power to nearly 75,000 customers.
At 8:00 a.m. today, PSEG-LI’s outage map showed over 16,462 customers still out of service at 969 separate locations.
Earlier this morning, eight overhead linemen, working for O&R’s contractor SPE, were also dispatched to Long Island to help with the restoration effort.
CEI is loaning its crews at the request of PSEG-LI.
