The O&R Big Energy Solutions program is designed
to encourage commercial and industrial customers to install high-efficiency
equipment in their facilities. All
New York commercial and industrial customers that have an active electric account
with Orange & Rockland, contribute to the System Benefit Charge (SBC) and
are installing the energy efficient electric measures in an existing facility
are eligible to participate in this program.
The program offers both prescriptive and custom rebates.
Prescriptive Rebates
Prescriptive financial
incentives are designed to cover up to 50% of the incremental measure cost
for installing high-efficiency heating, cooling, and ventilation equipment or for
upgrading lighting, motors and installing variable speed drives (VSD). All
VSD projects require pre-approval. The prescriptive rebate process is designed
to be simple and efficient as all the customer needs to do is complete the
application and attach the work order and receipt. The Company will then review
the application and equipment specifications for eligibility in order to process
the rebate. Some rebates may require an on-site verification inspection prior
to payment.
Custom Rebates
The custom component of the program is designed to offer customers rebates for cost-effective
measures or projects that are not covered by the prescriptive rebates. All
custom projects require pre-approval, engineering analyses demonstrating savings,
and a pre-inspection to determine eligibility. Rebate levels will be determined
using economic customer payback criteria based on New York State Public
Service Commission guidelines.
