When
a storm causes significant damage to our electric system and
interrupts power to large numbers of our customers, we realize
how important it is to provide up-to-date communications. We
understand that if we can provide timely and accurate information
about the storm and our response, families and businesses can
make better decisions, thereby minimizing the impact of an outage
on their lives and business operations.
O&R offers various ways for customers to receive that information.

O&R
Web Site Outage Map: Outage information is now provided 24/7 with our new online
Outage Map. The Outage Map gives an overall geographical view of which communities are affected,
how many customers are affected, and information about each outage, including the estimated
restoration time for the customers that are part of that outage.
The information in the Outage Map is updated every 15 minutes.

Web Site Storm Advisories: During major storm events, updates known as "Advisories" are
provided on the home page of our Web site.
These updates contain general information about the severity of the storm, its effects on our system,
the company's response, and a recap of numbers provided in the Outage Map. Advisories may be viewed
from any computer, cell phone or PDA with Internet access.
Advisories are activated and updated at various intervals depending on the severity of the
storm damage on our system.
The status of a specific outage affecting your area, along with the estimated restoration time,
may be obtained by using our online Electric Outage Status form. Simply provide the phone number
or customer account number for the address affected. Please note that status information is not
provided for outages affecting a single home or business. |

Mobile Web: If your cell phone is Web-enabled, you can view online Advisories to
get general updates on our storm restoration efforts, and to check on the status of your specific
outage. We've made it convenient with special Web pages designed for the small screen of a
cell phone. Just go to www.oru.com and our system will recognize that you are using
a mobile Web device.
Whenever an Advisory is posted on our Web site, it will appear at the top of our Mobile Web home
page screen on your cell phone.
To check on the status of an outage affecting your area and to get an estimated restoration time,
navigate to the fourth item on the menu, Electric Outage Status, and provide the phone
number or account number for that service address. Please note that status information
is not provided for outages affecting a single home or business. |
 |
Phone: You
may check on the status of your specific outage and receive an estimated restoration time by calling
our toll free automated Customer Assistance phone line 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Simply follow
the voice prompts at 1-877-434-4100. |
