As a result
of a decision made by the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities, business
customers located in Rockland Electric Company's service area can choose
to have their electric commodity priced on an hourly basis. Rockland Electric
Company would provide this service under Basic Generation Service-Commercial
Industrial Energy Price (BGS-CIEP), which is based on the actual real
time cost to purchase energy on an hourly basis.
How will BGS-CIEP affect my account?
If you choose to enroll in this option, the supply portion of your usage
will no longer be charged at a fixed rate for a given time period. Your
energy charges will vary each hour of the day and every day of the week
based on market conditions.
Should you choose to become a BGS-CIEP hourly-priced customer, the retail
margin of 0.5¢ per kilowatt-hour added to the supply portion of your
usage will also still apply. This fee will not be charged if you subsequently
select a Third Party Supplier.
In order to participate in the hourly energy pricing option, you may be
required to upgrade your existing meter at additional costs.
How do I enroll in BGS-CIEP?
If you would like to enroll in the hourly energy pricing option, please
complete and return the BGS-CIEP
Authorization Form before the second business day of the calendar
year. Please note that by choosing this option you must remain on this
hourly energy price for a twelve-month period beginning June 1 unless
you choose a Third Party Supplier for your electric power supply.
