Installations Up To 2MW

Please follow the guidelines below for installation of systems that generate up to 2MW.

The interconnection applications for New Jersey are classified by level of complexity and are based on aggregate system rating:

Installation for Level 1
(Certified inverter based installations with aggregate rating less than 10 kW)

Prior to Installation

  1. Applicant should send:
  2. O&R will review the application and design.
  3. O&R will either give approval to install the system or explain why approval was not granted.

Upon completion of installation

  1. Applicant should send in page 3 of the application/agreement and proof of electrical installation.
  2. O&R will witness a verification test.
  3. If verification test passes, O&R will return the executed application/agreement to applicant. (The system should not be put in service, except for initial testing, until after the verification test.)
  4. If the installation is eligible for net metering, O&R will change the revenue meter.
Installation for Level 2 and Level 3
(Certified equipment with aggregate 10 kW to 2,000 kW and non-certified equipment)

Prior to Installation

  1. Applicant should send:
  2. O&R will review the application and design. We may require additional information depending on the complexity of the design.
  3. O&R will either approve the installation, or explain why approval was not granted.

Upon completion of installation

  1. Applicant should send in proof of electrical inspection.
  2. O&R will witness a verification test.
  3. If verification test passes, O&R will return the executed net metering agreement to applicant. (The system should not be put in service, except for initial testing, until after the verification test.)
  4. If the installation is eligible for net metering, O&R will change the revenue meter.
Installations Greater Than 2MW
