Who owns the electric and gas meters?

Electric and natural gas meters are the property of Orange & Rockland, Rockland Electric Company or Pike County Light & Power Company.

How often do you read the meter?

Our meter readers are scheduled to read the meter every month so we can send you a bill based on actual energy usage. On occasion, bad weather conditions, an unrestrained pet or an obstacle that prevents us from getting full access to the meter may result in our sending an estimated bill.

How will I know when the meter will be read?

Message on bill showing next meter reading dateScheduled meter reading dates appear on your bill each month. Look for the small image of a meter at the center of the bill, below the top stub of your statement.

I missed the meter reader, but I want my next bill to be based on an actual meter reading. What can I do?

If you want your bill to be based on an actual meter reading, supply us with your own reading.

How accurate are your meter readings?

We're proud of our 99.99% accuracy rate in reading meters. But we also know no one likes mistakes that can become wrong bills later. That's why we have a program called Service First.

Through Service First, we pledge to prevent or correct inaccurate meter readings or billing. If we fall short of our commitment, just contact us. We'll correct the problem, plus give you a $25 bill credit as a token of goodwill and acknowledgment of your inconvenience.
