SPRING VALLEY, NY August 12, 2015 — A group of die-hard damage-prevention promoters from around the Hudson Valley showed their support for 811 on 8/11 yesterday in Spring Valley with a lunchtime “Rally in the Valley” demonstration aimed at spreading the word to Call 811 Before You Dig.

Sponsored by O&R and Dig Safely New York, the rally highlighted the fact that every excavation job requires one call to 811. That call is to notify local utilities to mark the location of their underground facilities at a prospective excavation site to prevent accidental damage. If infrastructure damage results from failure to make that call, the results could be death or serious injury and the responsible excavator could face an array of significant penalties, fines and damage charges.
