PCL&P Opens Office to Improve Customer Service
MILFORD, PA. May 14, 2008 — As part of its far-reaching plans to improve service to it electric customers,
Pike County Light & Power Company (PCL&P) today opened a new customer service office in the heart
of downtown Milford.
Today's opening is the latest in a number of steps aimed at substantially fortifying PCL&P's electric
system in Pennsylvania and improving service to its electric
customers.
PCL&P's President and CEO John McMahon joined a number of community leaders in cutting the ribbon for
the new office at 311 Broad Street.
He said, "This new office will make it easier to do business with PCL&P whether it's paying a bill,
asking a question, reporting a service issue or trying to
get more information about using energy wisely and saving
money."
PCL&P's Vice President – Customer Service Jim O'Brien said, "We admire the energy here. It's strong.
It's positive. It's powerful. It's working. And, we want
to be part of it."
He added, "I'm very excited by today's
opening because it represents a significant milestone in
our efforts to improve our performance for our Pike County
customers."
Today's office grand opening joins a number of new initiatives in which PCL&P:
- Completed a joint partnership project between PCL&P and Pike County that provides new backup power
to emergency communications for Pike County
and for PCL&P. It's a generator that Pike County has
installed at PCL&P's Greenville tower – which serves as a platform for Pike's emergency communications
technology.
- Upgraded the electric system and
those upgrades have substantially improved
PCL&P service reliability
results.
- Built a new supplemental circuit
along Route 209 that creates a by-pass route
for electricity should problems develop on
the main circuit. That will help improve
electric service and be ready for this summer.
- Shorten the tree-trimming
cycles. About one-third of all our outages
are tree-related. More trimming will help
and that will be done every three years,
beginning at the end of this year instead
of every four.
- Formed the Community Advisory Committee. The
Committee is made up of 10 civic and governmental
leaders from around our service area. The
committee members meet monthly to discuss
PCL&P plans and policies
and their potential effect on the community.
- Increased
our contributions to the community, including
a grant of $5,000 to the Pike County Historical
Society for the Lincoln Anniversary events
in April, a $2,500 contribution to help fund
the Milford Music Fair and a $2,500 grant
to the American Readers Theater for their
"Pike County Big Read" program.
- More than doubled our Pike County United Way contribution this year from
$5,848 in 2007 to $13,496.
- Conducted more
community outreach here from the Pike County
Builders Show over at Hunt's Landing last
month to outreach to low-income customers
over the winter to tell as many people as
possible how to use energy more efficiently
and save money.
- Joined the Pike County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. Jacqui Frosco, PCL&P's
Manager of New Construction Services, is
our representative on the Board. PCL&P Community Relations Manager
Barry Short also serves on the Tri-State
Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and
Executive Committee.
- Created a new PCL&P newsletter that now comes with the monthly statement. That
new publication is another way for to communicate
with customers about the Company's activities.
