O&R Awards $4,000 Grant to the JCC Rockland's Film Festival
PEARL RIVER, NY March 24, 2008 — Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc.
has awarded the JCC Rockland's 5th International Jewish Film Festival
$4,000 to help underwrite the program's screenings which run from March
27 through April 11.
The JCC Rockland provides extensive cultural, recreational, social and
educational programs to nearly 10,000 people each year. The JCC Rockland
is a non-denominational, non-sectarian, not-for-profit organization whose
programs are open to all people
The festival organizers promise Rockland viewers a program marked by diverse
vision and subject matter, both serious and lighthearted, to celebrate
Jewish culture, films, filmmakers, as well as the richness of the Jewish
experience. Over, 6,000 people attended last year's festival.
O&R, through its Community Investment Committee (CIC), donated nearly
$100,000 in 2007 to 88 different civic efforts that make its communities
better places to live through educational, cultural and environmental
projects, through O&R employee volunteer participation or through
holiday outreach to the needy.
