O&R's Grant Named Senior Community Relations Manager

PEARL RIVER, NY January 14, 2008 — Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. has promoted Michael Grant, a 25-year company veteran, to the post of Senior Manager – Public Affairs, where he will play a key role in managing the electric and gas utility's community relations efforts.

In his new position, Grant, 50, will help to develop, plan, implement and manage community relations activities to promote awareness and understanding of Company policies, programs and procedures, both within the Company and its subsidiaries, and among the general public. He also will help to manage the liaison activities between the Company and the community's public officials.

In addition, Grant will serve as O&R's primary community contact for the:

  • Towns of Blooming Grove, Chester, Warwick, Highlands, Monroe, Woodbury and Tuxedo in New York, and the Borough of Ringwood and the Townships of West Milford and Vernon in New Jersey.
  • Villages of Harriman, Tuxedo Park, Highland Falls, Chester, Warwick, Florida, Kiryas Joel, Washingtonville, Monroe and Greenwood Lake.

Tom Brizzolara, O&R's Director-Public Affairs, said, "Michael is the very model of the modern community relations manager. His devotion to civic affairs, his successful efforts in public office and his front-line experience in the Company uniquely qualify him for this important post."

Since joining O&R in 1982 in the Gas and Fuel Resources Department, Grant, a lifelong Haverstraw resident, has assumed a variety of duties with increasingly greater responsibility. Grant served as a Senior Administrator in the Gas Control Center before joining Community Relations in 2001. He worked as a Community Relations Manager in O&R's New Jersey subsidiary Rockland Electric Company before assuming similar duties in O&R's New York service territory in Orange County.

For nearly 25 years, Grant has played an active role in the community. He has served on the Rockland County Legislature since January 2005, currently as majority leader; the Haverstraw Town Board for four years; and as West Haverstraw's treasurer for 14 years.

Grant, who holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York at Cortland, served for the past 16 years as a trustee and finance officer for the Haverstraw Kings Daughters Public Library. He is a member of the board of directors of the United Way of Rockland County, vice president of the Arts Alliance of Haverstraw and a North Rockland Rotary Club executive board member.

Grant lives with his wife Catherine in Garnerville. The couple has two children, Adam and Caitlin.
