O&R's Winter to Manage O&R's Community Relations
PEARL RIVER, NY January 14, 2008 — Orange and Rockland Utilities,
Inc. has promoted Neil L. Winter, Jr., a 20-year company veteran, to the
post of Section Manager – Public Affairs, where he will manage all
of the electric and gas utility's community relations efforts.
In his new position, Winter, 45, will develop, plan, implement and manage
community relations activities to promote awareness and understanding
of Company policies, programs and procedures, both within the Company
and its subsidiaries, and among the general public. He also will manage
the liaison activities between the Company and the community's public
officials.
Tom Brizzolara, O&R's Director – Public Affairs, said, "Neil
is an effective manager, a skilled organizer, a tenacious advocate and
a talented community relations professional. He is a gifted, effective
problem solver who knows the community as well as he knows the company."
Since joining O&R in 1987 as a part-time Customer Service Representative,
Winter, who was born and raised in Suffern, has assumed a variety of duties
with increasingly greater responsibility. Winter worked for seven years
in the Conservation Services Department where he administered a number
of programs designed to help consumers use energy more wisely and save
money.
In 1996, Winter became Manager of Corporate Programs, where he oversaw
O&R's philanthropic programs, including the Company's perennially
successful annual United Way campaign. In 2000, he moved to the Community
Relations Department where he became the manager responsible for liaison
with Rockland County. In 2005, he was named Senior Manager – Community
Relations.
For the past seven years, Winter has served as a Little League baseball,
basketball and soccer coach in Monroe, where he lives with his wife Jackie
and the couple's two children, Dylan and Nicole.
Winter, who holds an Associate's Degree in Science from Rockland Community
College and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Environmental Studies from Ramapo
College of New Jersey, is the past president of the Spring Valley Rotary
Club, a board member of the United Way of Rockland County and a member
of the Junior Achievement of the Hudson Valley's Advisory Board.
